Seattle First Annual Tweed Run a success!

Well i guess the Seattle's first annual "Tweed Ride" was a success. With a bit over fifty riders sunny weather, dapper outfits, and great friends, you couldn't ask for a better ride. With the ride beginning at Cal Anderson Park, then onto GasWorks for some fun in the sun, playing with the kids then if you were up to it off to George& Dragon Pub for drinks. All in all a great inaugural ride and great job Seattlelites!I was there in spirit, but i'm in europe (Germany to be exact),backpacking thru europe and preparing for London's 2nd annual tweed run April 10th, registration is Saturday, February 27th,2010.Keep you posted.CHEERS CHAPS!
P.S. goto www.flickr.com and type seattle tweed ride and check out the photos!
A road trip.

Today my girl's parents decide to take me on a road trip.We all nothing to do and they figured it would be a good idea to take me somwhere i havent been to.So we hop in the load some goodies and head about 80 south to a city called Wuppertal. This city is known for it's unique monorail system, which is also the first city in the world to have a monorail. But the rail was down because of a recent crash and now has to be completely revamped. Its quite cool how they have it,it runs all thru town taking you just about anywhere you need to go.But the real reason why we came here to this city is to goto the Von der Heydt Museum to see the famous Claude Monet's works. Now i'm not nor will be a art major but i will tell this, that in the last few years i've really gotten into art be past, present, new, old,Van Gogh,or Banksy. It doesn't matter what form of art it is i enjoy all of it.Man! Monet had an unbelievable way seeing and appreciating, nature, people, being outdoors to architecture. His interpretations on scenes as he see them during different times of the day,to the beautiful colors he incorporates make beautiful yet exquisite pieces.Of course cameras weren't allowed but being able to see work done well over 100 years old looking as if done just recently is a sight to see.If you do want to see his work it is placed in quite a few museums around the globe,Paris,Berlin,New York etc. This was a well worth trip and had a great time and of course another new experience, thanks mama and papa! CHOOS!

An afternoon lunch with my girl and mom.
It's mid afternoon and Buena Vista Social Club is pumping thru the speakers. My beautiful girlfriend Silvia is in the mood for making lunch. So while i'm blogging away in the living room, she's chopping, coming in out saying,"mhhhhm" for the next hour or so,wondering what is she making in there. So finally she asks,"are you ready to eat honey?".The first dish comes out and its a baked dish she calls"auflauf" which means comfort food.Consisting of potatoes, mushrooms, herbs, creme fraiche, green beans, cream, and feta cheese.Know doubt about it,real comfort food, the tangyness of the feta and creme fraiche and the cream and potatoes is enough said.A bowl of that and i wanted to sleep. But no there was more.Out she brings stuffed bell peppers with wild rice or what they call "natural rice" mushrooms, groundbeef, topped with gouda pronounced "gowda".Red,green, and yellow peppers were stuffed with the wild rice filling baked till the pepper is practically falling apart then topped with gouda and baked till brown.I chose the yellow pepper because of the sweetness it gives off. That was good and of course filling. Is there room for dessert you might ask?Somehow yes. After letting the stomach digest the meal dessert was served.Sliced caramelized apple with two scoops of vanilla bean ice,not ice cream they call it "eis",strawberry compote,Mirabella (a small yellow plum)compote, two miniature sized "griesbrei" pancakes made of ground wheat, eggs, milk make, sugar make for a very light cake, drizzled with chocolate sauce and dried peppermint. All i can say was dam!The warm apple with the two compotes and the "griesbrei" made for a comfort in the mouth. And i actually like how the dried peppermint really worked.Of course the vanilla ice is always good.I feel like sleeping!Kisses Baby! Bon Appetite! Oh there's a saying in german on the plate in red it says"a friendship has no bounderies!
Seattle First Annual Tweed Run

With London hosting their first annual Tweed Run last year, the craze has infected other cities across the globe to follow.DC,Dallas,NY,San Diego,Philadelphia,Boston, and SF have all hosted events in 2009 and plan to do the same this year, with other new cities joining in,including my hometown Seattle! That's right they are hosting their first ever tweed ride Sunday,February 21st, 2010.Now some of you not so often bike riders are wondering why they call it a "tweed ride".Well the requirements for the ride is to be adorned in tweed, wool, bowties, capes, deerstalkers (Sherlock Holmes Hat),plus fours, knickers, argyle socks, etc. Now for you gentleman if you have a cool yet "dandy"mustache definately wear it proud!Above are some pics of previous riders with their fits.So bring out that old bike and basket, your uncles cardigan, look "quite dapper", have some fun, meet new people and of course riding! And also these rides all raise money, with the proceeds going to a organizations such as Bikes4Africa. www.SeattleTweed.blogspot.com

Who said a chicken salad is chicken and lettuce? NOT!
Well after a few hours at home i decide to meet up with my friend Jake for some lunch somewhere in town.So after a bit of strolling, window shopping we stop in a spot called Cafe Blatt. The menu consisted of a little bit of everything, salads, sandwiches, and of course fries! After a quick browse i chose the chicken salad.Jake of course orders a good ole fashioned bacon burger with fries.A few minutes past and my salad arrives.DAMN! I wasn't expecting that! This salad consisted of re,green, and yellow bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, arugula, red onions with my choice, mango dressing. That was good, filling, and quite tasty! Who said a chicken salad is just chicken and lettuce!
